Another crucial development hurdle for Poole is the road connection to the new bridge. Could this be another urban highways disaster – the scheme was allegedly designed 15 years ago. Urban design thinking has completely changed since then; priorities have shifted away from the car to a plethora of other transport modes.

Meanwhile it was reported in the Evening Standard yesterday evening that over 50% of commuters in the City of London are now on bikes. Could Poole be blighted by yet more oversized highways rather then integrated transport initiatives catering for all and helping Poole to become a destination rather than a series of slip roads?
