ECA recently visited the incredible showroom of Urban Front to discuss the final finishes and specification of our Passivhaus Project currently on site in North Dorset.

It is exceedingly difficult to find a supplier of high-quality, design-focused external entrance doors, particularly with natural hardwood finishes. Urban Front are one of a very small number of suppliers making stunning doors in a variety of contemporary styles, a number of which are Passivhaus Certified.

The doors are constructed with a steel frame, and a paraffin insulation core, providing a strong, rigid and ventilated core, with a 6mm solid hardwood facing bonded on.

This provides an attractive, and durable door which is very resistant to warping and movement, while still providing excellent thermal performance (U-Value). Due to the extra insulation required, the Passiv Certified door is nearly 4 inches thick!!

They also do a fantastically designed off-centre pivot door (in some really imposing sizes!) but due to the complexity of the seals, it unfortunately can’t be used on Hilltop as it is not Passiv Certified
