ECA architects and planners are very excited to be involved in a new food offer for Boscombe Seafront.
Urban Guild plan to open 'The Wood Oven' this summer, which immediately adjoins Urban Reef.
Urban Reef is the centre piece of The Overstrand and has been instrumental in the regeneration of Boscombe seafront in association with the renovation of Boscombe pier and the large development of flats at Honeycombe Beach. This has contributed to the revitalisation of Boscombe seafront.
ECA architects have designed a shop front that reflects the proposals to serve food prepared in a large, central wood fired oven. The counter will comprise of piles of wood logs and uses natural materials to reflect the coastal location and nature of the business.
The proposals will also extend the kitchen space for Urban Reef, which will enable food to be served on the ground floor of Urban Reef after 6 pm. The proposals also involve a retractable canopy to the first floor of Urban Reef.
ECA architects and planners have been involved in the design and planning of the proposals, and worked collaboratively with Bournemouth Tourism, planning and environmental health officers to agree a scheme that Bournemouth Borough Council could support. We were very pleased to have the support of a number of local Councillors who recognise the benefit that it would bring.
