This proposal outlines a visionary concept for a new medical centre located in Hamworthy. The design aims to maximise the site's potential by replacing the existing facility with a modern, iconic building that serves as a local landmark. By utilising the site's natural gradient, the proposed structure incorporates an additional lower ground floor, achieving a 155% increase in total floor area without overwhelming the neighbouring properties.
Following Department of Health guidelines, the interior is intuitively zoned into public, staff, and primary care areas. A double-height central atrium, illuminated by a large prism roof-light, forms the heart of the building, aiding patient navigation and providing a calming atmosphere. The exterior features clean geometric lines, translucent polycarbonate panels, and iridescent porcelain tiles that give the centre a welcoming glow. Ultimately, this sustainable development provides enhanced, accessible healthcare facilities for the local community.
