The Canford Cliffs project is a compelling example of a highly successful renovation and extension achieved under challenging site conditions, carefully respecting its local context.
Through a ground-floor and side extension, we introduced a spacious and airy open-plan layout. Sensitively integrating the newly extended volume, we strategically incorporated skylights to ensure the floor plate is flooded with abundant natural daylight, creating a bright and welcoming living area. Alongside this, we proposed a modern roof terrace that provides an open-air space seamlessly connected to the surrounding nature.
A key defining factor of this project was its location within a Conservation Area. Given the presence of numerous trees protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), we proposed a piled foundation solution to avoid hurting the roots of the trees (Root Protection Zones: RPZ).This sensitive approach enabled us to safeguard the existing natural environment.
Following Conservation Area guidelines, meticulous care was taken in the design of the pitched roof and the selection of brickwork. Through rigorous design planning and exceptionally high-quality construction execution, the project culminated in an outstanding outcome that harmonizes beautifully with its surroundings.
