Located in the leafy, residential area of Lower Parkstone, this project replaces a single, outdated house with three carefully designed, contemporary woodland dwellings. The new homes are sensitively sited to avoid the root protection zones of the site’s most significant, mature trees, ensuring the preservation of the area's established, wooded character.
The architecture takes inspiration from woodland cottages, featuring small-scale building footprints, steeply pitched roofs, low eaves, and natural materials like timber cladding and slate. These elements, combined with simple, modern detailing and large balconies, create a bespoke design that beautifully complements both the natural environment and the diverse architectural heritage of the coastal location. The layout thoughtfully navigates the site's topography, stepping down the hillside to minimize bulk while creating spacious, light-filled living areas that blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
