Situated in Lower Parkstone, the street scape is of mainly single storey buildings, generally bungalows. The brief was to create a large family home. We negotiated at planning a two storey building of approximately 2500 Square foot (5 bedrooms with 3 en-suite bathrooms, a snug, a cinema room and an open plan living room to the rear).We originally designed the building to sit on the original bungalow structure. During the development of the project this was changed to a new buld. The construction was a twin-wall timber frame, off site prefabricated build.The resulting house presents a contrasting double gable to the street , providing variation to the otherwise uniform bungalows either side. To the rear we created an open plan living area with continuous bi-folds and roof terraces to the first floor. The building reflects the more traditional house types along the rood in roof form but is otherwise a contemporary house type in plan and through elevational treatments.
